The origins of Bournemouth Concert Brass date back to 1912 and through its history, it has undergone many name changes and amalgamations.

Stories of the Past

Boscombe Temperance Band
Formation
Boscombe Temperance Band was formed in 1912 by Father and Son, Messers Bareham.

Crystal Palace Brass Band Festival
According to a newspaper article appearing in a 1954 edition of the 'Bournemouth Times', before the First World War Boscombe
Temperance Band competed at the Crystal Palace Brass Band Contest. 

It was awarded the 'Silver Baton' and from that day the band was known as 'Boscombe Silver Band'.

The First Conductor
The First Conductor of Boscombe Temperance Band was a Charlie Tiller. He also played for the 'Boscombe Hippodrome Orchestra' and was a very fine maker of English Violins.
