Concert Details
New Year Viennese
Following the model of the famous New Year's Day concert from Vienna,
this concert concentrates on the music of the Strauss family.
The concert also includes music from other composers who worked primarily in Vienna, especially any of their music that is, like that of the Strausses, essentially light and happy in character. Most popular of these are Franz von Suppe, Franz Lehar and Mozart.
Summer Concert
A mixed bag of entertaining repertoire, sometimes with a theme.
Last Night of the
Proms
The last quarter of the concert follows the traditional format of the
annual event at the end of the BBC's Prom season.
The remainder is typically a little more serious than the Summer Concert but varies from year to year.
