Event
Planning Advice |
|
Bournemouth
Concert Brass have organised major musical events
themselves, so the band is suitably qualified to offer your organisation marketing,
management and planning advice. We do this by offering our concert
promoters an 'Event Planning Guide'. We are also happy to comment on any other question or concern. We offer this advice in good
faith but unfortunately we are not in a position to take professional responsibility for
a Promoter's event. |
|
|
|
The following are a few of the
many items of advice that would be found in our 'Event Planning Guide'
|
|
School Choirs
|
|
|
Inviting
school choirs to perform at a concert is a good idea for a variety
of reasons. Provided there
are facilities to accommodate and protect the children whilst on the
premises, schools are normally very keen to participate because it
provides wider opportunities for the children to perform in public.
A donation to school
funds is very much appreciated. Their participation also boosts the
size of the audience because,
for nearly every performing child, there will be enthusiastic parent, guardian
or family member(s). The school may also be willing to publicise
your event to all parents of the school children. |

VAT (Valued Added Tax)
|
|
|
VAT can be
a significant expense, particularly if you are hiring a large concert venue.
If your organisation is not VAT exempt it would be prudent to
consult an Accountant or Tax Advisor who may
advise you to consider 'Charitable Status' or to set up a
Limited Company or Partnership. |

|
Venue Choice
|
|
|
If you
decide to hold your event in an established concert venue, it is
recommended to contact all the venues in your catchment area. The cost of the hall will reflect the comfort,
quality and facilities at the venue. Be aware that some concert venues will include all their
facilities and services within the main cost of the hall, whilst
others will quote the facilities and services as extra charges.
(Refer to 'Venue' in the Event Budget page). |

"What's On"
Guides
|
|
|
These are
an essential for publicising your concert event.
"What's On" Guides are hosted by Tourist Information
Offices, local newspapers and journals, holiday camps, hotel groups,
Council authorities, independent tourist publications and numerous
websites. Entries within these Guides are normally free of charge,
however, you need
to advise the Guide Editors many months (sometimes twelve months) in
advance in order to guarantee inclusion. |
